CHATIME AND CADBURY ANNOUNCE A MARRIAGE OF TEA AND CHOCOLATE

March 19, 2014 by StrawberrY Gal

Chatime, the number one lifestyle tea provider in Malaysia, along with Cadbury, the world renowned chocolate brand, have collaborated to launch a special range of Chatime Choco-LatTea series in Malaysia, creating a one-of-a-kind flavour for both brands.

Chatime Malaysia leveraged on its research and development arm to concoct the three new variants of the Chatime’s Choco-latTea series, namely the Strawberry Choco, Earl Grey Choco and Caramel Choco.

Bryan Loo, Managing Director of Chatime Malaysia, said, “This collaboration meets our objectives to launch five new product series a year and the Choco-latTea series marks the first of them in 2014, which will localise our brand and further strengthen our positioning as a household name in Malaysia.”

According to Bryan, the marriage of tea and chocolate makes it a unique combination, for instance, the Earl Grey Choco variant combines a tea blend which has a distinctive smoky flavour and aroma derived from the addition of oil extracted from the rind of the bergamot orange, a fragrant citrus fruit with Cadbury’s milk chocolate that will titillate the tastebuds.

Chatime Malaysia also expects to build and expand its consumer base through its partnership with Cadbury, whose chocolates has been enjoyed by one in three Malaysian households for over 40 years. Bryan added that the collaboration will also open up opportunities with other household brands.

Tan Chian Pang, the Head of Chocolate at Mondelez Malaysia said, “As owner of iconic brands such as Cadbury Dairy Milk, Oreo, Jacob’s and Twisties, our dream is to create delicious moments of joy. Cadbury has been a part of the Malaysian households for years and as Malaysia’s No. 1 chocolate brand, we are always looking out for innovative ways to create joy for our  consumers. Cadbury is the natural choice for Chatime beverages. We are delighted to be working with Chatime on this innovative beverage series which will allow more consumers to enjoy the smooth and creamy taste of Cadbury chocolate.”

Cadbury is a brand with a long history in Malaysia and a passionate commitment to make everyone feel uplifted. Cadbury Dairy Milk is one of the most popular premium chocolates in the world, transforming small occasions into moments of pure joy. The latest milestone for the company came in 2 February 2010 when Cadbury Dairy Milk became a delicious addition to the Kraft Foods family, now known as Mondelez International. The global acquisition of Cadbury paved the way for Malaysians to share more enjoyable moments with the brand and strengthened Mondelēz International position as a snacks powerhouse.

Since its launched to Malaysia in 2010, Chatime has actively engaged Malaysians with its range of over 100 tea variants; participating in supporting talented young Malaysians in the creative field; and innovative promotions utilising mobile applications such as WeChat.

Malaysians will be able to enjoy the Cadbury infused Chatime beverages beginning today, across all of their 110 outlets nationwide.
