1997 RESTAURANT, PAYA TERUBONG
Looking for cheap and delicious Chu Cha? I used to visit the restaurant always when I am a kid and after so long I stepped back again to try their Chu Char there to fill up your hungry tummy without burning a big whole in the pocket.
Their signature dish for the chu char is the Asam Curry Fish Head. This is where the serving of the fish head is kinda big size and the soup is furnished with lots of bunga kantan, onions as well as mint leaves. The Asam Fish Head here is slightly special where the cooking style of the curry are more on the soury spicy taste rather than the lemak taste of it.

The Belachan Chicken is another dish we had ordered. The belachan chicken is being deep fried till crispiness and it is full of the belachan taste with it too. They usually choose drumlet and chicken wings to fried the belachan chicken here.

Apom @ 1997 Coffeeshop, Paya Terubong, Penang
Apom is another famous food in Penang and its mainly sold by the Indian community around teh streets and its claims as Apom Balik or Apom Manis.
Is kinda hard to fnd Apom stall at night since this is mostly sold during the day and is served during breakfast as is light ..
Apom is generally make of floor and eggs plus a bit of sugar. This stall Apom is kinda nice as it is not that sweet as well as is tender.. overall is not bad and delicious as well as is reasonable price

Dinner at 1997 Coffeeshop @ Paya Terubong, Penang
1997 coffeshop is situated at Paya Terubong , Penang .. and this place had served many nice oishi food .. this shop is serving famous asam laksa as well as the Jiu Hu Eng Zhai was nice as well. It is opened during day as well as night.
Mum and dad often like to have their meals there as they love the claypot taufu as well as the curry fish dere. The claypot taufu is served is normal taufu which is soft as well they fried the taufu before putting them in the claypot. inside, the claypot u can find shrimps as well as mushrooms and vegetables in it.

That’s come the signature dish which is the Assam Fish Head Curry which is very different.. The Fish Head Curry is not like the normal curry which is more on the lemak taste and the Indian kind of curry but this one is the real assam curry whuch is soury a bit and is normally called the Chinese style of curry. It is hardly to find this style of curry in Penang as many of the curry fish head stall in Penang are serving the lemak style of curry fish head.

Another signature dish which is the salad prawn. Salad prawn is also the signature dish … where I love to makan them since I am a kid. The prawn is fried first and them the sauce will be poured on top of the prawn

JIU HU ENG ZHAI and Laksa.. 1997 Restorant
em...is a kinda old picture i took on food.. i think should be a week ago...Love eating is not me la.. but leh.. one of my favorite one of it is " cuttle fish" or in penang is called "JIU HU ENG ZHAI"..
JIU HU ENG ZHAI is a food that is popular among Penangist as well... is combination on a type of vege called eng zai and cuttle fish.. so is called Jiu Hu Eng Zhai. Em.. one of the nice one i have tried is from..1997 Restorant in Paya Terubong. its yummy.. and it is open at nite.. can try and see..
Another one nice things dere is the Asam Laksa.. very nice as well.
