Lampe Berger Paris, a reputable century old French master perfumer and Jubilant Prestige Sdn Bhd, the country sole distributor of Lampe Berger products in Malaysia, played host to the inaugural Lampe Berger Polo Cup 2014 and launched the Parfum Berger Paris Home Fragrances Collection for the first time in Asia at the Polo Pavilion, Bukit Kiara International Equestrian & Country Resort recently.
The glamourous, high society event, held in conjunction with Lampe Berger Malaysia’s 2nd Anniversary was attended by more than 150 guests and graced by Richard Mamez, President of Lampe Berger Paris; Dato’ Julie Lim, Managing Director of Lampe Berger Malaysia; Directors of Jubilant Prestige Sdn Bhd, Dato’ Winnie Lim and Dato’ Steven Yeam; and Lyslie Legendre, Trade Advisor for Fashion, Lifestyle & Tourism at UBIFRANCE Malaysia.
The programme opened with the thrilling and fast-paced “Sport of Kings” or polo. Spectators and aficionados of the sport comprising Malaysia’s upper echelons were seen enjoying the sight of thundering horses and their agile riders as Team Blue and Team White went head to head in an exciting and entertaining match to secure the coveted Lampe Berger Cup. During the game, guests were regaled with polo trivia and commentary by Dr. Rodwin Bahadur, an experienced Canadian polo player with an Argentinian handicap.
After 45 minutes of play, Team White, comprising Datin Mohaini Yusof, Abigail Slater, Steve Nicholas and Epy Mohd Sharif, emerged triumphant to win the coveted Lampe Berger Cup. Each team member received Lampe Berger’s magnificent Ceci n’est pas une lampe “This is not a lamp”. Meanwhile, the runner-ups, Team Blue comprising Michael Pan, Dato’ Muadzam Shah, Daryl Yeap and Fadzli Shah did not go home empty handed as they were each awarded Lampe Berger’s Fleur de Lys as tokens of appreciation for their amazing display of sportsmanship throughout the game.
Guests of the exclusive event took the opportunity to showcase their flair and keen sense of fashion with “Polo Chic” being the theme of the day. A bevy of beauties were spotted wearing fashionable sun and plumed hats to match their summer dresses and polo outfits in the hope of winning the Best Hat prizes which were awarded to three lucky ladies. Each of them took home the Lampe Berger Coffret First, an elegantly designed translucent glass lamp as tokens of appreciation.
Following the match, Lim and Mamez together with Dato’ Winnie Lim and Dato’ Steven Yeam, launched Lampe Berger Paris’ new range of home fragrances, Parfum Berger at an elegant tea reception. The unveiling of the new products was gaily celebrated with the popping of Moet and confetti as the Polo Pavilion erupted with cheers and applause from the assembled guests.
“Lampe Berger Malaysia is thrilled to host the inaugural Lampe Berger Polo Cup 2014 and launch a new range of home fragrances, Parfum Berger in conjunction with our 2nd Anniversary,” said Dato’ Julie Lim, Managing Director of Lampe Berger Malaysia.
“In celebrating these significant milestones, Lampe Berger is set to entrench itself further in the minds of discerning consumers as the revolutionary master perfumer of distinctive class. Lampe Berger Malaysia has certainly come a long way since we established in 2012, a conventional method of selling Paris-sourced fragrancing products through brick and mortar outlets and pop-up stores in major shopping centres. We have to-date, 15 Lampe Berger authorised dealers and outlets with more on the way as we continue to expand and grow the brand in retail in Malaysia and Brunei,” added Lim.
“The success of Lampe Berger Malaysia has certainly spurred us to introduce the best of our current product offerings to the Malaysian market. We believe there is a very exclusive, niche segment of consumers who will appreciate and be delighted by the refined elegance of fragranced bouquets and objets d’art,” said Richard Mamez, President of Lampe Berger Paris.
Fragrance in the home is a growing market in France with 80% of people regularly using home fragrances, according to the Givaudan Panel France 2011 – Givaudan Facets Air Care October 2011 survey.
The Parfum Berger collection showcases scented bouquets and delicately fragranced decorative items; a combination of refined, blended floral accents such as iris, jasmine, rose, lily of the valley and peony presented in charming packaging of a sleek grey glass vase topped with a delicately crafted ceramic rose or plaster roses attached to a grey, satin ribbon embellished with a transparent bead.\
At the heart of this collection are 10 specially blended fragrances – Paris Chic, Precious Jasmine, Amber Powder, Provence Treats, Virginia Cedarwood, Zest of Verbena, Ocean Breeze, Soap Memories, Vanilla Gourmet and Orange Cinnamon, all created in France through the combined expertise of the Berger company’s fragrance know-how and the Master Perfumers of Grasse.
